Mechanical Engineering is the one among the first four B.E undergraduate programmes offered in this institution. Of the many engineering disciplines, mechanical engineering is the broadest, encompassing a wide variety of engineering fields and many specialties.
In the academic year 2010-2011, additionally, B.E. Mechanical Engineering through Tamil as medium of Instruction has been introduced. Currently, the annual intake of students in B.E Mechanical Engineering (English Medium) is 60 students and in B.E Mechanical Engineering ( Tamil Medium ) it is 60 students.

Thermal and other forms of energy Engineering.
Industrial Engineering and Management.

Laboratory Practice to make the students understand the Practical aspects of
the theoretical principles taught in the classroom.
Specialized and developing areas (as elective subjects).
