Knowing English involves not only producing language correctly, but also using language for particular purpose. When learners are able to perform the communicative functions that they need, they achieve communicative competence in English. Hence, developing the communicative competence of students is one of the major goals of English teaching in our college;
especially the department of English provides students with vital training to meet the demands of global communication and helps them develop proficiency in English. The Department of English is also striving for enrichment of the language and providing in depth aesthetic knowledge and an eagerness to appreciate the language in its ingenuity to the students who come here to avail themselves of BE/BTECH courses.
Besides, the department consists of well qualified faculty members and Most of them are specialized in Linguistics, English Language Teaching, English for specific purposes, CALL&English Literature. The staff are motivated to do class room research, present papers in international conferences as well as publish papers in leading journals.
The department of English is proposed to set up English language laboratory in near future; this language laboratory will help the students to speak better English and prepare themselves for IELTS, TOFEL examinations.
