Professor V.R. Rengaraju obtained his B.E in Civil Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore in 1964, M.E and Ph.D from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the years 1966 and 1973 respectively .Worked as research associate for about one year at IISc, Bangalore.

He started his career as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras in March 1974 and became Professor in the year 1995 and retired from service in 2009.

His areas of Interest are Pavement Engineering, Traffic and Transportation planning. He has guided many Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate students for their final year project works in the above mentioned areas. To his research credit, he has published about 50 research papers in the National, International Journals and Conferences. He has guided 4 M.S (By Research) and 8 Ph.Ds in the above areas at IIT Madras. He has executed several sponsored and consultancy projects.

At present working as a Visiting Professor in Civil Engineering at Anna  University  of  Technology  Chennai.    He  is  the   Course Co-ordinator for M.E in Construction Engineering and Management. He is also the Chairman for the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
