Anna University of Technology Chennai is one of the Premier Technical University in India located at Chennai, Tamilnadu. It is established by the Government of Tamilnadu. It is developing high quality infrastructure to provide its excellent teaching and research facilities for engineering and technology. Department of Civil is established in September 2010. Civil engineering department is an University Department and currently offers a two year postgraduate programme in Construction Engineering and Management. The Department is also planning to offer post graduate programme in other disciplines of Civil Engineering.

The Department functions under the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Dr.V.R.Rengaraju is currently the Course Coordinator of the Department.

As part of the curriculum, the Department arranges field visits and industrial lectures.
